The Broken Engagement
Does either part have the right to sue the other over the breach of an engagement contract?
Typical argument is that the breaking of the engagement has resulted in lost opportunities for the other spouse. For example, the other spouse having turned down job opportunities based on the engagement or having to turn down other possible spouses.
Massachusetts will not open the door to breach of engagement cases for two reasons:
